چکیده

Abstract Identifying the molecular basis of resistance to pathogens is critical promote a chemical-free cropping system. In plants, nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat constitute largest family disease (R) genes, but this can be rapidly overcome by pathogen, prompting research into alternative sources resistance. Anthracnose, caused fungus Colletotrichum lindemuthianum, one most important diseases common bean. This study aimed identify Co-x, an anthracnose R gene conferring total extremely virulent C. lindemuthianum strain 100. To that end, we sequenced Co-x 58 kb target region in resistant JaloEEP558 (Co-x) bean and identified KTR2/3, additional encoding truncated chimeric CRINKLY4 kinase, located within kinase cluster. The presence KTR2/3 strictly correlated with 100 diversity panel beans. Furthermore, expression up-regulated 24 hours post-inoculation its transient susceptible genotype increases Our results provide evidence encodes probably resulting from unequal recombination event occurred recently Andean domesticated pool. atypical may act as decoy involved indirect recognition fungal effector.

Genetic Characterization and Molecular Mapping Pse-2 Gene for Resistance to Halo Blight in Common Bean

Pseudomonas syringae pv. phaseolicola (Burkholder) Young et al. (Psp) causes halo blight, which is a serious bacterial disease of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). Several resistance (R) genes have been discovered in host differential cultivar ZAA 12. Our objectives were to further characterize and enable marker-assisted selection (MAS) of the Pse-2 gene in ZAA 12 purported to have broad eff...

A Single Dominant Gene Controlling Resistance to Soil Zinc Deficiency in Common Bean

Cultivated soils often are either deficient or possess toxic concentrations of one or more mineral elements that adversely affect emergence, growth, maturity, production potential, and/or nutritional quality of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). Our objective was to study the inheritance of resistance to soil Zn deficiency. The resistant `Matterhorn' was crossed with the susceptible 'T-39'. T...

The maize CRINKLY4 receptor kinase controls a cell-autonomous differentiation response.

The maize (Zea mays) CRINKLY4 (cr4) gene encodes a receptor-like kinase that controls a variety of cell differentiation responses, particularly in the leaf epidermis and in the aleurone of the endosperm. In situ hybridization indicated that the cr4 transcript is present throughout the shoot apical meristem and young leaf primordia. A genetic mosaic analysis was conducted to test whether CR4 sig...

Meta-QTL for resistance to white mold in common bean

White mold, caused by the fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary, is a major disease that limits common bean production and quality worldwide. The host-pathogen interaction is complex, with partial resistance in the host inherited as a quantitative trait with low to moderate heritability. Our objective was to identify meta-QTL conditioning partial resistance to white mold from individua...

Candidate Gene Identification with SNP Marker-Based Fine Mapping of Anthracnose Resistance Gene Co-4 in Common Bean

Anthracnose, caused by Colletotrichum lindemuthianum, is an important fungal disease of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris). Alleles at the Co-4 locus confer resistance to a number of races of C. lindemuthianum. A population of 94 F4:5 recombinant inbred lines of a cross between resistant black bean genotype B09197 and susceptible navy bean cultivar Nautica was used to identify markers associated ...
